- crab grass. I water the ground and then hand weed, ususally. Sometimes I use a hoe.

- I've just started this year and haven't yet encountered many insect problems. I did have aphids on my tomatoes and tried out a water and soap mixture but they went away on their own.

- I've had powdery mildew on my squash plants. I've removed dying leaves and added compost to the soil around them. On my tomatoes I had some blossom-end rot and I believe the late blight. I removed infected plants and decided to ride it out.

- If yes, please state the source (conventional farm field, golf course, etc.)and any details you can provide (type of pesticide, fertilizer, herbicide used, and/or what used for.) *
- Our property is next to a commercial Apple Orchard. They spray behind our house, quite a distance from the vegetable field and buffered by a thicket of trees. I highly doubt that any of the spray finds its way to our fields but it's possible.
- Do you have an adequate buffer to protect yourself from potential contamination? *
- Please describe your buffer. Be as specific as possible. On all sides, how far is it from your crops to the next closest use (road, conventional crop, residential yard)? Be sure to specify what is grown on neighboring land that is in agricultural use. For example: To the north and east, a wooded area of at least 100 yards separates us from the neighbor's corn fields, to the south is a fallow field at least 100 yards deep separating us from the road, and to the west about 60 feet separates our crops from a field where conventional corn and soybeans are grown. *
- The area where we are possibly exposed is north west of the vegetable field. The sprayed trees are separated from our produce by 70 ft. lawn, woods 130 ft deep and 40 ft. between end of woods and the first row of apple trees, a total distance of 240 ft.
